Transfer of Ownership

This article goes through the transfer of ownership process.  A precipitous situation may be a company staffing change, the account owner retiring/moving on, or selling the URL to another agent. Occasionally there is a sensitive situation, involving divorce, death, or a crumbling business relationship. We take great care with these situations, and will ease the process to the best of our ability.

This process is different for each account, due to the nature of different MLS rules and development partners. That said, here are the main steps that you should follow to change the ownership on your IDX Broker account.

Email Us

The original account owner must send us an email to start the process. This should come from the email address that we have on file for the account. This ensures that accounts are legitimately changed and protects both the account holder and IDX Broker from fraudulent activity.

In an email to MLSinfo@idxbroker.com, please provide an email address for the new owner so that they might be notified of any further steps to complete this transfer.

At this point the return email will outline the specific next steps for your account, but here is an overview of what to expect.

New Sign-Up

The new owner will need to sign-up for an IDX Broker account. This is so that they have the opportunity to provide us with the correct contact information and agree to our terms of service.

On this sign-up form, there is an area for "special instructions". In this field, the new owner should indicate that this is a "TOS for old owner to new owner". You should also include the IDX Broker account number. This information will be included in a follow-up email. In this manner we can make sure that this is a transfer, instead of setting up a second account.

MLS Approval

Once the sign-up is processed, the new owner will go through the MLS approval process that allows IDX Broker to provide the MLS data to your website.

Changes Applied

Once the MLS approval is set for the new owner, we will make the appropriate changes to the account and the transfer will be complete.

If it hasn't been done before, this is a great time for the new owner to change the billing information so that the original owner is no longer responsible for payment.
