Hello. Would like to request that a Commute Time feature be available within the platform. We have clients requesting this type of feature in busy metropolitan areas where they’d love their clients to be able to plug in an address and see a relevant “drive time” or “commute time” on each listing. With the Google Maps API’s this should be a relatively easy feature to implement as an option. Thoughts?

If you enable the walkscore map on details pages there is an option that can find the commute time, as well as the cost for commuting.

There is an input box which states Where do you commute?
If you type in your address there it will give you the commute time for walking, car, bus, or bike, as well as driving costs.

Thanks for illuminating this. and while it does show that a feature exists within another feature… it is not exactly what we are requesting. A “commute time” feature as a standalone would be much more intriguing for us. A way for a user to enter an address once and for a commute-time element to be present as meta data tied to every listing would be much more powerful for us. Even a way for a user to have a map view that shows how different neighborhoods in a city would impact their work commute… this is a feature we see being built in the industry and being presented in compelling ways.
I emailed developers@idxbroker.com and was told to post this here… I don’t have any knowledge of your decision-making or your organizational structure. I appreciate your response… but what happens next? Is there a team there that evaluates enhancement requests more formally? Is there a product roadmap that we can have visibility to? For those of us building products on top of your solution, it would be great to understand more deeply the point of posting here and how/when/who is looking at what we post.

We do monitor these threads. The more posts on a thread and up votes from the other developer partners in the forum, the more we can estimate the demand across developer partners.
No enhancement can be guaranteed and if a request simply will not be possible I will post it. All feed back is appreciated and more visibility is a good thing. This is something we are working toward, with our developer partner summit possibly being the first large step.

Thanks Antonio. Is there a product roadmap that we can have visibility to?

Sorry, at this time not really. Even if there was, our Acquisition System rebuild is the top priority and this has resulted in less developer resources for features in Q1. The Developer Partner would likely be first instance of some kind of preview or “road map”.

All new features that get pushed out going forward will be added here if you want to subscribe to that thread so you get updates: https://developers.idxbroker.com/forums/forum/general-discussion/announcements/

Do you have examples of where you are seeing this implemented? Or how you would like it displayed on the page?
