Displaying new properties first tends to make the viewer want to come back often to see what is new …. and maybe register. If I display new properties first on the Results page, it is really hard for the viewer to tell what is new and what isn’t.
When you go to Trulia, Zillow, Remax, Realtor.com – they all have something like this in their results. See attached. When all of the big sites are doing it, that likely implies the research shows it’s a winner winner chicken dinner!
My suggestion is on the Results page to add something like a NEW banner across the main photo that clearly identifies the newest properties or that shows how many days they have been on the site similar to the big sites are doing.
