Email Blacklist for Leads
PreviewEmail blacklist was added in early 2018, to reduce the number of sent email attempts, which did work and reduced the amount by at least 25%.
If emails can not be delivered by Socketlabs, they will have a failure code returned, which causes the following things to happen
- Temporary failure type – for issues that are supposed to be temporary in any given mailbox, such as out of space
- Initially, emails will remain in the mail server queue – Queue Details
During this time, email is displayed with Question Mark in MW Message Center - after some time, if email still can not be delivered attempt is removed from the queue and displayed in SocketLabs Failed Messages
- email address is added to IDX Broker Blacklist. The email itself is not going to be re-delivered by IDX nor Socketlabs.
- after 24 hours, we let SocketLabs attempt to send a new email
- if new email is delivered, entry is removed from Blacklist
- if new email is not delivered, MW blocks any other emails sent for the next 24 hours.
- Such email addresses typically do not end up on Suppression list, depending on the mail server configuration.

- Initially, emails will remain in the mail server queue – Queue Details
- Other failure types – include complaint, permanent failure
- email is added to the Suppression list
- email is added to the Blacklist, so that Socketlabs does not attempt to send email again (which results in failure due to mail being on Suppression list and we are paying for this)
To allow email being sent to that address, email needs to be removed from both Suppression list and Blacklist
